CST School Rules
1.The Chinese School of Tomorrow (CST) rents classrooms from Trinity Preparatory School (http://www.trinityprep.org) for teaching purposes. Students, parents, and teachers must take care of the school’s facilities and environment. During school hours, students are not allowed to run around or play in the school, and they must not damage any property. Inside the classroom, students should not touch or play with any items, especially those in the teacher’s work area, such as computers, books, or teaching materials. After class, students must leave the campus immediately and are not permitted to linger. CST is not responsible for any accidents that occur outside of class time, including those near the lake or pond on campus.
2.Both students and teachers are responsible for keeping the classroom clean. After class, students should help the teacher restore the classroom to its original state. Any furniture that has been moved should be returned to its original position, and the blackboard or whiteboard should be cleaned. For younger students’ classes, we request that parents on duty assist in tidying up the classroom after class.
3.CST classes take place on Saturdays from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM (please refer to the school calendar for specific dates). The first class runs from 2:00 PM to 2:50 PM, followed by a recess from 2:50 PM to 3:05 PM, and the second class runs from 3:05 PM to 3:55 PM. Students are expected to arrive on time. If a student cannot attend class, they or their parent should inform the teacher in advance.
4.Teachers are responsible for supervising students during the entire class period. During recess, parents on duty are expected to assist teachers in maintaining order.
5.CST provides one hour of free activity time after class, during which students may use the playground and basketball court. However, CST is not responsible for transportation or safety during this time. Parents are responsible for picking up their children from the classroom at 4:00 PM and supervising them during the free activity period. All parents and students must leave the campus by 5:30 PM.
6.To maintain a quiet and focused learning environment, we ask that parents refrain from staying near the classroom and speaking loudly during class time. Parents may wait in the designated parent waiting area or the outdoor pavilion. Alternatively, they may choose to go shopping nearby but must return by 3:45 PM to pick up their child.
7.To help students succeed in learning Chinese, students are expected to complete their homework on time, and parents should supervise and assist with this.
8.Students should not bring electronic devices such as video game consoles, MP3 players, or iPods to school. However, they are allowed to bring a cell phone for communication with their parents, provided it is turned off during class.
9.The school relies on the active participation of families. Parents are required to take turns serving as class monitors to help maintain classroom and campus order. Each parent must serve as a monitor at least once, depending on the class size. If a parent cannot fulfill their duties, they should notify the class coordinator as soon as possible.
10.For students who fail to follow school rules or heed the teacher’s warnings, the following steps will be taken:
•First offense: Parents will be notified.
•Second offense: A formal warning will be issued.
•Third offense: The student will be expelled from CST.
11.To ensure smooth operations during drop-off and pick-up times, students and parents must follow the CST drop-off and pick-up procedures.
CST Student Drop-Off/Pick-Up Procedures
In order to ensure smooth school operations and student safety, starting from the Spring of 2014, all CST parents and students must follow the procedures below for drop-off and pick-up.
1.Drop-Off
CST rents classrooms from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturdays. Parents are advised not to drop off students before 1:55 PM. Upon arrival, students and parents must not enter the school building or classrooms without permission. Students should gather at the entrance of the “Student Resource Center” in an orderly manner and will be led into the classroom by the parent on duty at 2:00 PM. If a student arrives late, parents may escort them into the classroom, but parents are not allowed to remain in the classroom to avoid disrupting the class.
2.Pick-Up
Class usually ends at 4:00 PM. Parents should wait outside the classroom starting at 3:50 PM. The teacher or parent on duty will release students to their parents in an orderly fashion from 3:50 PM. Students are not allowed to leave the classroom without being picked up by their parent. If a student needs to leave early, parents should notify the teacher in advance and go directly to the classroom to pick up their child. For students participating in after-school activities, parents must accompany them for the entire duration. All parents and students must leave the campus by 5:30 PM.
3.Delegating Pick-Up
If parents arrange for another individual to pick up their child, they must provide the teacher with a written and signed note specifying the arrangement.
Classroom Rules
1.Classroom furniture and other items must not be moved without permission. If movement is necessary, the classroom must be restored to its original state before leaving.
2.CST provides dry-erase markers for teachers. Teachers should avoid using the classroom’s markers unless necessary. After using the whiteboard, it should be cleaned properly.
3.Students are not allowed to use the whiteboard without the teacher’s permission. They must not play or move around the classroom without authorization.
4.Students must not make loud noises, run around, or play with any classroom materials, including computers, books, or teaching equipment. Both teachers and students are prohibited from entering or using the teacher’s workspace in the classroom.
5.Restrooms are located outside the classroom. Unless there is an emergency, students are expected to use the restroom during the designated break time and keep it clean after use.
6.Eating or drinking in the classroom is not allowed, except for bottled water.
7.Chewing gum is not allowed in the classroom, and parents should ensure their children do not bring gum to school.
Duties of Parent Monitors
1.Parent monitors must arrive at school by 1:55 PM and wait at the entrance of the “Student Resource Center” to gather students from their class and escort them to the classroom.
2.During class, parent monitors should remain in the classroom to assist with younger students’ needs and help the teacher maintain order.
3.During recess, parent monitors should help supervise students and ensure they follow school rules. Monitors should make sure students stay away from the lake, do not leave the designated areas, and avoid climbing on statues.
4.Since restrooms are located outside, parent monitors should ensure students return to the classroom immediately after using the restroom during break time. No students should remain outside to play.
5.If a student needs to use the restroom during class due to an emergency, the parent monitor should accompany the student and ensure they return safely to the classroom.
6.At the end of class, parent monitors should help the teacher clean and tidy the classroom and ensure students are safely handed over to their parents.
